Radio minute: Brookfield

November 28, 2025

Democracy Watch warned that our Prime Minister could personally profit from massive federal infrastructure spending tied to his substantial investments – including Brookfield.

We now know there are nineteen hundred Brookfield assets Mark Carney did not submit to his ethics screen.

At least 3 major Liberal projects in Canada’s 2025 budget involve Brookfield:

The Build Canada Homes initiative ($36 billion tied to Brookfield for modular housing);

The Maple Fund/Canada Growth Fund expansion ($10 billion federal commitment to Brookfield assets for energy and infrastructure); and

The $41 billion Green Transition Plan (aligning with Brookfield’s net-zero and clean energy funds).

As these deals typically prioritize private returns over broad public benefits, Canadian taxpayers pay for the infrastructure, but Brookfield’s executives and major shareholders stand to gain the most.

When Carney pledged $4.3 billion in reconstruction for Ukraine, the contract went to Brookfield.

So yes, this is about conflicts of interest given Carney’s financial holdings in Brookfield.

Canadians deserve to know how Carney uses his office to put personal profits before Canadians’ trust.
