Radio minute: Limitless MAiD
February 11, 2026
Three years ago, the Quebec College of Physicians shocked our nation, suggesting MAiD be considered for “babies from birth to one year, born with severe deformities or disabilities.” In 2025, they affirmed that “medical assistance in dying may be an appropriate treatment for babies suffering from extreme pain” and “parents should have the opportunity to obtain this care for their infant.”
Health Canada’s “Model Practice Standard” already directs clinicians, willing to provide MAiD that concluded their patients might be eligible, to proactively suggest it – even if no interest was expressed.
Last week, a couple took their son to a hospital with undiagnosed tummy pain and were asked if they had considered MAiD as an option for their child. Another couple shared, “It’s already being suggested without being approved. We have had it suggested for our youngest.”
It hit me hard. It is happening right here, impacting people I know of and know personally within our Saskatchewan communities.
This culture of death doesn’t reflect Canadian values. Say NO to the Liberals’ MAiD agenda, now targeting those with mental illness or disability, and parents being propositioned to consider ending their children’s lives.
