Radio minute: No tax on gas

April 8, 2026

Canadian families are paying nearly 20 percent more at the pump than Americans, and it’s not just because of global oil prices. It’s because of high Liberal taxes.

Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives have a simple plan: zero federal tax on gas and diesel for the rest of 2026 – by removing the fuel excise tax and GST for the rest of the year and permanently removing the so-called clean fuel standard and Industrial Carbon Tax — saving Canadians up to 25 cents per litre.

This is all about real people. Seniors who want to visit their grandkids without worrying about the cost of gas. Parents driving to hockey practice. Workers who rely on their trucks to earn a living.

Other countries are already acting by cutting fuel taxes to help their citizens, while Carney has taxed our gas, blocked our resources, and weakened our dollar, creating the fastest rising costs in the G7.

When trucks cost less to run, the price of groceries, housing, and everyday essentials becomes more affordable.

Canadians deserve relief and fairness. It’s time for zero tax on gas.
