Radio minute: We remember
November 14, 2025
November 11th was rich with opportunities for all to remember the fallen and their families. For the past decade, I’ve been honoured to lay the Canada wreath somewhere within the 43,000 square kilometres of the Yorkton–Melville.
A large crowd gathered in Yorkton for a deeply moving Service of Remembrance—complete with the placing of the sentry, the marching of colours, & O Canada; with memories, hymns, prayers, couching the solemn moments of the Last Post, Lament, Reveille, and Act of Remembrance. Wreaths were laid, names read, In Flanders Fields recited, before closing with God Save the King, the march past, and salute.
I then drove to Togo, a small, vibrant, rural community, where a cold and windy outdoor service was held – with a pastor, piper, trumpet player, cadets, the mayor, MLA, and support from the Kamsack Legion. Warm fellowship followed at the Silver Thread Drop-in Centre. Although numbers were few, their Veterans were remembered.
