Speech: Give survivors a choice.
April 23, 2026
All victims of military sexual misconduct (MSM) deserve timely justice.
Bill C-11 proposes to force cases of MSM into the overburdened and slow civilian justice system without providing resources to local police forces or provincial courts to deal with military cases.
That is not what survivors want. They want the option to take their perpetrator to civilian court or, as an option, within the military.
Every member of the military who has been attacked in some way should have the opportunity to have that choice. Removing their choice on how to report sexual offences does nothing to prevent or solve the problem. It deepens it.
